CDE Style

Hi! this page showcases my free to use Common Desktop Environment inspired template. CDE was first released in the early 90s and mostly used on Unix workstations of the era, with some of it's design language seeping into/out of MacOS and pre 9X Windows. It also heavily influenced the early releases of several popular Linux desktops. I've never used CDE before, I just think it looks neat and wanted to try recreating a version of it with CSS borders and images.

This template was made on a heavily edited base of Zonelets' Fingerless Gloves template, allowing it to function with the Zonelets blogging/javascript code (populating the navbar, footer, and posts array). It can be used without Zonelets, with a few modifications (delete the 'script' line, and manually enter header/footer info). It can also be customized or recoloured in any way (I just looked up reference images and colour picked from them). There are comments in the HTML and CSS files on what must remain unchanged to not break the style.

Any attribution for the base code should be made to Zonelets/Marina Kittaka, otherwise this template is free to use with no restrictions.

The images I created for this template (the little close, minimize, and maximize buttons in the title bar) are CC0/Public Domain, and can be edited/recoloured by anyone, no attribution is necessary.

The background image is the X root window weave/stipple, which should be under the same resue-allowed MIT license as X itself. I got it from this blog post about 'the iconography of the X window system' by Matt Proud, which explains it's significance.
