Gaming
I... am a gamer (derogatory).
Console History
Nintendo 64 (1998)--> Xbox (2003)--> life/work hiatus--> Xbox One & Switch Lite (2020)--> Xbox Series S (2023).
I don't actually have any brand loyalty, it's just coincidentally where I had online friends.
I also don't believe I will ever buy any future consoles, especially not Xbox ones. You are locked into their ecosystem and have to pay to play online games you already own.
Personal Computer(s)
Growing up, my fam went through several computers. Distinctly remember separate machines for Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, and Vista. I've since had two average laptops across the 2010s to now (Toshiba Sattelite & Asus Vivobook). In 2020 I built a PC for the first time! Still running that one now, the specs are as follows;
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H wifi
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 8GB
- RAM: 16GB
- PSU: 550W
- OS: Linux Mint - Xfce
- Case: Pink one with cute stickers
- Peripherals: Also cute & pink
It's nothing special, even at the time, but I never really play new games anyway. My absolute favourites are all like pre 2010.
The Greats
Online Mostly: DayZ, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, GTA Online, Conan Exiles, Red Dead Online, Sea of Thieves, Hell Let Loose.
Single Player Mostly: The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, KOTOR 1 & 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Civilization 4, Saints Row 2022, Red Faction 1, Blade Runner, Jedi Academy, Original Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2, Battlefield 1942 & Vietnam, SWAT4.
I do like and play plenty of other stuff, but those listed above have been the most impactful or amassed the most hours out of me. I typically prefer open ended/sandbox stuff, a linear story has to be outrageously good for me to no lose interest, otherwise I mostly play online games with friends :)
